Muntari's Tottenham move resurfaces despite denial

Inter Milan arrived in England yesterday to learn Portsmouth have appealed to FIFA over their failure to pay Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari’s transfer fee.

This has sparked talk in the English newspapers that he could reunite with former coach Harry Redknapp at Tottenham even though the ex-Portsmouth boss last week denied such move.

The Ghana midfielder was transferred from Fratton Park to the San Siro in a £12.7m deal in 2008. Portsmouth were due €1m (£866,000) after Muntari made 80 appearances.

But the European champions have refused to pay because Udinese, who sold Muntari to Pompey in 2007, claim they are still owed money on that transfer.

Muntari, 26, could be sold in January with his former Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp interested in taking him to Tottenham.

Muntari’s agent Frank Schreier said: “It could be that he will leave in the January transfer window, we have to arrange a meeting in the next few days in Milan to discuss his future, and then we will know the conditions of a transfer.”
