Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidential aspirant Nana Yaw Amponsah fended off strong competition from Samuel Osei Kuffour and Elloeny Amande to be appointed Asante Kotoko Chief Executive, it has emerged.

Kuffuor, a former Bayern Munich star and Karela United boss Elloeny Amande are believed to have been contacted for the top job.

But the Board of Directors of the club settled on the Phar Rangers owner after a thorough search.

He has been handed a three-year deal.

The position became vacant after GFA Executive Council member George Amoako was sacked as part of the club's restructuring process.

The club under new board launched a bid to find a new CEO and there were many interested applicants.

He will be unveiled on Friday. This is after a meeting with the club owner, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
