Newcastle rival Leicester for Chelsea striker Loic Remy

Newcastle United are chasing Chelsea striker Loic Remy.

The Daily Star Sinday says the Toon top the January spending table at £29m with Jonjo Shelvey, Andros Townsend and Henri Saivet all signing on this month.

And boss Steve McClaren hopes they aren't finished yet.

He would like to bring Chelsea striker Remy, 29, back to Tyneside on loan.

The arrival of Alexandre Pato has pushed Remy further down the pecking order and McClaren is hopeful that will push the Frenchman towards the exit door.

But they won't get him easy with high-flying Leicester City also interested.
