Nigeria to play Ghana's World Cup opponent Portugal in a friendly in September

Nigeria are lining up a friendly against European giants Portugal in the September international break.

The Super Eagles led by Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro, are taking advantage of the window to keep their players busy after the 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau were postponed.

The Nigerian Football Federation will announce the date and venue in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the game will be good test for Portugal, who face Ghana, the team that prevented Nigeria from qualifying to World Cup.

The Black Stars will engage Portugal in the opening Group H game at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Ghana will also face South Korea and Uruguay in the same group.

Meanwhile the Ghana Football Association is yet to announce the teams Ghana will face in September, despite reports of a three-nation tournament in Austria.

The Black Stars will however play Switzerland in November before the World Cup.
