Member of the Ghana's Normalisation Committee, Madam Lucy Quist has stated categorically that her outfit have no power to halt any potential Ghana Football Association presidential aspirant from holding a campaign.

The nation's football governing body seat has become vacant since world Football governing body FIFA banned former President Kwesi Nyantakyi for life from all football-related activities due to a documentary which exposed corruption in the game.

Former GFA Vice Presidents, Fred Pappoe and George Afriyie together with former EXCO (Executive Committee) member Wilfred Osei Palmer, Nana Yaw Amponsah and founder of Kumasi-based King Faisal FC, Alhaji Grunsah, have all expressed interest in replacing former boss Kwesi Nyantakyi as the next GFA president.

There have been calls from a section of Ghana football advocates who believe the Normalisation Committee which was formed to oversee football reforms in the country should prevent potential aspirants from holding campaign as the Committee is yet to bring forth a new statute.

However, Madam Quist has claimed that her outfit does not have the mandate to halt anyone from holding a campaign as it will be violation of citizen rights.

"I can't comment on someone's campaign because at the end of the day, it's a campaign so if you have money and feel like campaigning I can't prevent it, none of us can stop it, you're free citizen of Ghana," Madam Quist stated on Asempa FM.

"At the end of the day, what matters most is when we're done with the statutes, we'll look at the criteria of the statutes and check whether you still want to continue or not, but as thing stands now, no aspirant has petitioned the GFA on that and quite rightly so because we are not in a position to be taking in nominations, but as for the campaign, you can't stop any citizen of Ghana from doing so."
