England international of Ghanaian descent Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that he has recovered from symptoms of coronavirus and has entered into a week-long self-isolation.

The 19-year-old, who plays for Chelsea, was the first English Premier League player to be confirmed to suffer from the virus that has ravaged the globe and affected football worldwide.

He tested positive for coronavirus last week leading the Blues to enact a partial closure of the training facilities of the English top-flight side.

The winger, whose father played for Hearts of Oak, has sent a message to supporters via social media offering an update on his health, after being officially diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday.

"Hi guys, as you may be aware I had the virus for the last couple of days, which I've recovered from," Hudson-Odoi began.

"I'm following the health guidelines and self-isolating for the week. I hope to see everybody soon and hopefully be back on the pitch very soon. Take care."

The virus has caused league closures in Spain, Italy and France as it was elevated to a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
