Osei Pele rescues Hearts, Kotoko-Arsenal clash off

Published on: 06 October 2010

Hearts of Oak's difficult start to the season continued as a late header from Osei Pele denied Bechem Chelsea all three points in their game in Accra on Wednesday. Abdul Basit had given the Bechem side a deserved lead slamming home from close range after the Hearts defence failed to deal with a cross into the box.

But with three minutes to end play, Pele from an unmarked position headed the ball to the far post of Sowah Adjetey to make it 1-1 as the pressure mounts on coach Paa Kwesi Fabin.

Chelsea had two penalty appeals turned down in the late minutes as Hearts earned a share of the spoils.

Impressive league leaders Kessben FC were in superior form at the Sekondi Sports Stadium where they beat New Edubiase 3-1 to stay top of the Glo Premier League table.

Just 30 seconds into the game, Hans Kwoffie opened the scoring with James Boadu also scoring to put the leaders into a 2-0 lead before Stephen Manu pulled one back for Edubiase after 30 minutes.

But just before both sides headed into the break, Kessben captain Joe Hendricks scored from a spot kick in the 35th minute.

Bernard Dong-Bortey's spot kick on the stroke of halftime helped Aduana Stars to a 1-0 victory at the Dormaa Park against B.A. Stars.

The champions are second and a point off the leaders.

Real Tamale United posted recorded their first win of the campaign, beating All Stars 2-0 at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Goals from Richard Yeboah and Richard Annan sealed the three points for RTU but they still languish at the bottom of the table.

King Faisal continue to remain in the bottom three after they were stunned at home by Ebusua Dwarfs.

A brace from captain Bismarck Asiedu ensured that the Cape Coast side beat Faisal 2-1 as Mohammed Farouk pulled one back for the home team.

Gilbert Fiamenyo's second half goal handed Heart of Lions a 1-0 win over 10-man Liberty Professionals at the Kpando Park.

Liberty's Isaac Donkor was sent off in the second half.

The day's biggest fixture, the clash between Berekum Arsenals and Asante Kotoko at the Golden City Park could not come off due to a clash of stripes.

A decision would be taken by the Disciplinary Committee on that fixture.

AshantiGold will play Mighty Jets in a late kick off to wrap the match-day-6 fixtures.
