Ghana defender John Pantsil says his compatriot Asamoah Gyan will continue to impress on the global stage to become one of the best players in the world.

The Fulham right-back made the revelation on the day Gyan was nominated by Fifa for the World Player of the Year award.

Gyan was the key player in the Ghana’s successes this year with his goals steering the Black Stars to the quarter final of the World Cup and African Cup of Nations final.

The striker joined English side Sunderland in August in the club’s record transfer and scored in his Premier League debut when he came on as a substitute.

Pantsil insists Gyan will continue to progress in world football after his heroics in the debut in England.

“He's going to do well and I was happy to see him scoring on his debut,” Pantsil said.

“He's a young player and he has a bit to prove in England to show that he deserves to be there, but I think he's going to get bigger and bigger.”

Gyan has been tipped by many pundits to win the Africa Player of Year award.
