Pochettino: Tottenham were the better team until Fiorentina equaliser

Published on: 18 February 2016

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino believes his side were the more dominant during opening hour against Fiorentina in the Europa League round of 32.

The Argentine’s squad took the lead in the 37th minute through Nacer Chadli, before Federico Bernardeschi pulled a goal back to make it 1-1 during the second half.

“Up until the equalising goal we played better [than Fiorentina],” Pochettino told the media after the game.

“After that, we no longer had control of the ball nor the remaining 25 minutes, it was very difficult.

“History shows that it is very hard to play in Florence. Fiorentina have players of great quality.

“Bernardeschi is one of those, he is a very interesting player with great skills and potential for the future.

“I am happy to have seen him play like that today.”
