Bright Osayi-Samuel says his parents convinced him to snub a move to Manchester United as a youngster.

The Queens Park Rangers' winger has been in fine form this season scoring six goals and notching eight assists prior to the suspension of football last month.

Osayi-Samuel attracted plenty of attention back in 2014 with United scout John McNab one figure very impressed with the progress he was making at youth level.

The Nigerian says McNab was keen to bring him to Old Trafford but that he decided to move to Blackpool after some words of advice from his parents.

“He (McNab) wanted to take me to United, but he also spoke to a coach at Blackpool,” Osayi-Samuel told The Independent.

“I talked to my mum and dad and they said there'd be a lot bigger chance of me making it at Blackpool. That's what made the decision for me.

“I was so keen to play, I didn't care where it was, I'd never been at a proper team before and I was willing to sacrifice everything. When the chance came, I grabbed at it with both hands.”
