Randy Abbey insists he is not convinced by the reason given by Kevin-Prince Boateng for his decision to quit the Ghana national team.

The 24-year-old AC Milan midfielder stated his inability to cope with the physical exertions of playing for both club and country as the reason for his decision but this, Abbey says could not be the true reason.

“Clearly, the player (Boateng) has issues with the coach and that is what the President (Nyantakyi) tried to resolve,” he told Asempa FM.

“The reason given for his decision as on medical grounds for me is diplomatic and I am not buying that.

“He has probably sat with his managers to come out with a less controversial reason.

“Did he tell the President (Nyantakyi) this when he visited him in Milan? So it can’t be true later on that all of a sudden his heath became an issue.”

The Ghana FA Media Committee Chairman has however advised calm heads prevail so as to address the ‘real’ concerns of Boateng which in his opinion, could have detrimental effect on the team.

“A lot of Ghanaians have expressed their disappointments but most of them in my opinion are based on emotions.

“But as leaders we should be able to look at the issues emotively because perhaps the player might have a case which if not resolved properly could affect the team,” he added.
