Randy Abbey has rejected an appointment by the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to become the head of the Black Queens management committee.
Abbey, who is also a member of the body, says the only female member of the Executive Committee Linear Addy is the most qualified person to head the women's national team's management because of 'affirmative action'.
Barely two weeks ago the Executive Committee of the GFA announced a shake-up of the committees of the various national teams and handed the chairmanship of the Black Queens to Abbey, a former spokesman of the GFA.
The decision also retained Madam Addy as the vice-chairperson of the women's national team but the move has not gone down well with Abbey who insists he will not take up the position.
"I am unable to take up the appointment," the letter reported to be dated 1st December 2014, was quoted in the Daily Graphic on Saturday.
Abbey says if the GFA's Executive Committee is interested in affirmative action it should rather hand to Madam Addy who is the only female on the body.
"Miss Leanier Addy is the only elected female member of the Executive Committee and has been the vice chairperson of the committee since 2011 and I believe she deserves to head the committee.
"I do not think it is fair and does not promote affirmative action," he added.
Madam Addy is already the chairperson of the Women's League Board.
The rejected of the appointment has fuelled speculation that Abbey is keen on contesting the Ghana FA Presidential elections next year.
