Reading sweating over fitness of Ghana ace Andy Yiadom ahead of West Brom clash

Reading FC are sweating over the fitness of defender Andy Yiadom ahead of their Championship clash against West Brom on Saturday.

The 30-year-old picked up the setback in the side's 1-1 draw at home to Hull City at the weekend.

The interim skipper was withdrawn at half time after aggravating a soft tissue problem he had been carrying over the past fortnight.

The Royals are in desperate for their star defender to be fully fit for the fixture after picking just two wins in their last nine outings - although they have lost only once in their last five matches.

Reading boss Veljko Paunovic is hopeful the injury suffered by the Ghana international is not as serious as feared.

"Andy has been dealing with a soft tissue issue in the past three games and he was able to manage it, together with our medical staff to go through it," he said.

"But his pain was very acute so we opted to give him a break and took him off to try and save him, if the damage is not already done.

"We'll determine that in the MRI post-game but hopefully it's not that bad and we can recover him for the next game."
