Real Madrid 'disgruntled with the standard of refereeing in LaLiga' after 22 games without a penalty

Real Madrid took all three points against Celta Vigo on Saturday, but they were left feeling disgruntled following the game.

A brace from Karim Benzema and a goal by Marco Asensio gave Los Blancos a 3-1 victory to go second in the LaLiga standings.

However it has been reported that they have been left furious following a number of decisions that went against them during the game.

Marca have reported that players were left feeling 'baffled' by some of the decisions which were made by referee Maria Melero Lopez.

Real Madrid were left particularly frustrated by a decision to award a foul against Luka Modric near the edge of their own box which they felt could have cost them the win.

The Croatian midfielder went to ground as he made a pass to Lucas Vazquez, which the official blew for a foul and handed Modric a yellow card for catching a Celta Vigo player.

Modric and Real Madrid staff were left stunned by the decision, but fortunately for them, Iago Aspas' free-kick was deflected wide by Casemiro.

However the players believed they could have dropped two points in the race for the title due to what they perceived be a 'blunder' by the referee.

It is reported that Los Blancos 'intend to appeal the booking' and take it 'as far as they can'.

Los Blancos were also unhappy with a decision not to award Federico Valverde after he was obstructed following a through ball by Modric, which caused Zinedine Zidane to protest angrily on the touchline.

Vinicius was also left frustrated when a handball decision went against him just as he about to set up a counter-attack.

The club are also becoming 'increasingly concerned' by the fact that they have not been awarded a penalty in 22 games.

It was the El Clasico on October 24 when they were last awarded a penalty, when Clement Lenglet brought down Sergio Ramos.

Real Madrid felt as though they should have been awarded penalties in their last two LaLiga games.

Referee Alejandro Hernandez refused to point to the spot for a handball by Felipe Augusto during the Madrid derby, despite being told by VAR that it was a penalty.

Los Blancos were then not awarded a penalty against Elche after they felt Sergio Ramos was pulled down in the box.
