Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye has revealed that he will not discuss Black Stars winning bonuses in public as it amounts to gross disrespect to the players and the other stakeholders.

In a meeting with the Sports Writers Association of Ghana [SWAG] the newly appointed minister said it was wrong to discuss the bonuses of the Black Stars in public insisting it demeans the players and does not show respect.

Responding to a question on the bonus of the Black Stars, the Youth and Sports Minister said "It is wrong to discuss the bonuses of the Black Stars in public. It does not show respect."

"I will not discuss the amount that will be given to them or anything regarding the issue in the public domain. All discussions must be held with the stakeholders involved to reach an amicable settlement. That is how I think it must be done," he added.

The bonuses of the Black Stars have been a matter of public discourse as the immediate-past Sports Minister, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed strongly kicked against the $10,000 bonus package insisting it muat be slashed to $5000.

The leadership of the Black Stars playing body publicly resisted the reported slash and angrily reacted that they will not accept such a decision from the then Minister.

But the determined Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye is set to handle the situation and find a lasting solution to bonus impasse.
