Sadiq: Roma were unlucky against Chievo

Published on: 07 January 2016

Roma forward Umar Sadiq has said his side must do their best to bounce back from their 3-3 draw with Chievo and that they were unfortunate not to win the game.

Sadiq is a product of the Giallorossi’s youth system and he scored his second goal for Roma in the draw in Verona. Rudi Garcia’s side led the game three times however the Gialloblu managed to rescue a draw.

“We were unlucky, but we must not give up.” said the Nigerian forward to Roma’s official website.

“We must continue to work hard and prepare well for our next match on Saturday against AC Milan.

“What did we miss against Chievo? I don’t know, I think we created enough chances to win the game. I think we just lacked a little bit of luck.

“Do I fear taking Edin Dzeko’s first team place? No, Dzeko is undroppable. The club signed him to score and although I’m obviously happy to score my second goal, it’s not the time to think about usurping Dzeko.

“I hope instead that Edin can come back from his injury soon so he can help the team.”

The 18-year-old was also asked if he regretted not scoring more than once against the Mussi Volanti.

“Could I have scored the winning goal? Of course it would have been better to score twice.

“But right now I feel sorry for drawing and not winning the game. I’m young, I have lots of time to think about goals and personal statistics.

“My only real regret is that we couldn’t get the three points and seal the win.”
