Goalkeeper Sammy Adjei is resigned to leaving Hearts of Oak.

The 31-year-old has been unsettled at the club since he was dislodged from his position by Philemon McCarthy.

The former Black Stars was only recalled into first team action last season after McCarthy suffered an injury during a Premier League game against sworn-rivals Asante Kotoko.

But after the former Feyernord goalie recovered and returned to training, he fears he might play second fiddle next term.

His contract with the capital-based has ended and the ex-Ashdod shot-stopper is pondering a move away from the club to seek new challenge elsewhere.

“Adjei is clearly not happy with the manner some of the Hearts players have treated him for the past few months and he’s planning to walk away,” a source close to the player is quoted by 90 Minutes newspaper.

“He’s had an uneasy relationship with a few of the senior players and feels the best thing to do now is to seek fresh challenge elsewhere,”

“Thankfully his contract has ended and he is a free agent now so he can decide on what to do with his career.

He added: “He might rescind his decision if the Hearts officials sit down and talk with him about his future and assure him he’s still wanted at the club.

“Anything short of that will see Sammy wearing the colours of a different club next season,”
