Sports Ministry insists there is no preferential treatment in payment of bonus to Black Stars technical staff
Some Black Stars technical team members still owed bonuses

The Sports Ministry have assured it will clear the outstanding bonus arrears owed some members of the Black Stars technical team once resources are made available.

Four members Avram Grant’s backroom staff are still owed bonuses dating back to Ghana’s 2017 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in September.

The Sports Ministry appear to have prioritized payment of bonuses of the Black Stars team with the players on top of that list.

Coach Avram Grant and his assistant Maxwell Konadu follows as is Goalkeeper’s Trainer Nassam Yakubu.

Team Manager Sabahn Quaye, Video Analyst Michael Okyere, Team Doctor Baba Adamu and Prof. J.K Mintah, the team’s Psychologist appear to be at the bottom of this prioritized list as they have still not been paid.

But the Sports Ministry’s spokesman Otto Plahar insists there is no preferential treatment in the payment of bonuses and that these outstanding payments will be made once monies are available.

“It’s not true,” Plahar responded over thoughts of having a prioritized list of payment.

“We care about those Black Stars technical team members.

“Payment of the bonuses is based on the monies available and the budgetary reduction has affected us. But, we will definitely pay.”

A ‘no money syndrome’ for the Black Stars appears to have been developed since the team’s poor showing at the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars players, technical and management team used to enjoy prompt payment of bonuses immediately after securing competitive wins for the nation.

However, with claims of economic hardship and slashed budgetary allocation, the Sports Ministry is unable to keep up with such swift payments in recent times.
