Yusif Abubakar of Aduana Stars has been named the 2017 Sports Writers Association of Ghana Coach of the Year.
The experienced coach led the Dormaa-based side to win the 2017 Ghana Premier League.
He was selected ahead of Carl Lokko, who is trainer of boxing prospect Richard Commey and Carl Pierce of Weightlifting.
Abubakar has rich coaching experience having lead teams like Swedru All Blacks, Heart of Lions, King Faisal, Berekum Chelsea, Techiman City and Medeama.
He could not pick up his award on stage as he is away with his club for their 2018 CAF Confederation Cup Group opener against ASEC Mimosas on Sunday in Abidjan.
