Ghana sports writers' chief Kwabena Yeboah has warned USA-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey that he is doing no favours to the country by playing for the Black Stars.

The respected journalists insists the Portland Timbers shot-stopper rather stands to benefit if he plays for the Ghana national team.

Kwarasey, is back in Ghana's national squad for their forthcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique following a self-imposed exile.

The 28-year-old had been absent from the Black Stars since their participation at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil claiming there was favouritism in selection.

Ghana coach Avram Grant convinced the shot-stopper - who plays for MLS side Portland Timbers - to return to the national set-up ahead of their matches against the Mambas later this month.

Yeboah says Kwarasey must be thankful to the country for giving him the opportunity to play for the Black Stars.

“It is in his own interest to play for Ghana and not the other way round," the President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Yeboah

"You do us no favours but this is a nation you are serving just like us in diverse ways.”

Ghana are top of Group H with a maximum six points from their opening two games.

The Black Stars host Mozambique on 24 March in Accra before playing the return leg in Maputo four days later.
