Harry Clarke (left) celebrates equalising for Stoke against Burnley
Harry Clarke scored a late equaliser for struggling Stoke as they drew 1-1 with high-flying Burnley at Turf Moor.
Connor Roberts broke the deadlock for the Clarets in the 54th minute before Clarke popped up to head home the equaliser with three minutes to play.
Burnley remain fifth in the Championship but will rue missing opportunities to extend their lead during a dominant display.
Despite picking up a point Stoke fall to 20th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
Stoke came into the game off the back of their worst defeat since returning to the Championship and had a real storm to weather against a commanding Burnley side.
Despite their dominance, Burnley created relatively few chances in the first-half, although Jay Rodriguez did hit the crossbar with a long-range effort midway through the half.
The deadlock was broken by an unlikely source as right-back Roberts scored his first goal of the season.
Josh Brownhill slid the ball through for Roberts and he fired the ball passed Josef Bursik, who probably should have done better with the shot.
Stoke could have equalised within minutes of going behind but Arijanet Muric made a good save to deny Liam Delap.
Burnley continued to press and looked the team more likely to score for much of the second-half, but were guilty of failing to produce clear-cut chances.
The Clarets were made to pay for not making the game comfortable as Clarke rose above Roberts at the back post to head the equaliser from Tariqe Fosu-Henry's cross.
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany told BBC Radio Lancashire:
"It was frustrating night. There are many things the lads did really well, they worked so hard, they were so aggressive, and there was a good tempo to our game on the ball.
"We had enough chances to put it to bed, we didn't, and one moment decided the game for us.
"There's not a manager in the Championship who will tell you he feels comfortable when you are winning 1-0.
"We definitely looked like we were more likely to score, we were controlling and we weren't conceding chances, so it's not like anyone saw it coming."
Stoke manager Alex Neil told BBC Radio Stoke:
"I've seen a lot of Burnley and in my opinion I think they're a very good team, so I'm pleased to get that point.
"The last game we left ourselves one-on-one at the back and it caused us a lot of problems, so we wanted to make sure we built ourselves off a solid foundation.
"I thought the lads showed great character, great effort, and great endeavour to get back in the game.
"It was a disciplined performance and I thought we deserved at least a point based on clear chances we created."
