Stripped off Aduana Stars captain Godfred Saka denies being behind recent team unrest

Ex-Aduana Stars captain Godfred Saka has rubbished claims he is behind the recent unrest in the team.

Saka, 29, has been stripped of the captain's armband after he was accused of instigating their 2-0 defeat at Inter Allies in the season opener last week.

The experienced right-back has been fingered as the man responsible for the recent disunity in camp as the side sunk to a new low after their 1-0 defeat at home to Wa All Stars.

But the former WAFA trainee has dismissed the widespread claims, insisting it's palpable lies.

“It’s not true that Stephen Adams’ omission from the squad as the first choice goalkeeper was the cause of our loss to Inter Allies and Wa All Stars,” Saka told Happy FM.

“Why would anyone think like that? Was Joseph Addo not in the post when we played and qualified to play in the G6 tournament final? All this reports are making waves because we’ve lost two consecutive games and people are making unfounded stories from it."

“I again heard that I’m leading a coup in the team and because of that I’ve been stripped of my armband but to clarify this matter, my armband was taken away from me because I had an altercation with one of our managers after our match against Inter Allies."

He added: “To lose two games in a row is something we didn’t imagine before the start of the season but the team is making frantic efforts to bounce back to winning ways and from what I saw in training yesterday shows that things will get better in our next match."
