In Norway:

Strømsgodset suffered a second straight defeat the Norwegian Tippeligaen and slipped to fifth place.

Goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey kept the post while Manchester City loanee Mohammed Abu made his debut start for Strømsgodset.

Rosenborg BK maintained their lead on top of the log with hard-won 3-2 victory over Brann at away.

Midfield powerhouse Anthony Annan was at his usual best for the Trondheim-based club.

In France:

Stade Rennes missed the chance to move to the summit of the Ligue 1 table managing a scoreless draw with Paris Saints Germain.

Defender John Boye maintained his place in the Rennes first team but sat on the bench.

A ten-man Sedan managed to beat last season’s Ligue 1 campaigners Le Mans 2-1 to topple Evian Thonon from the second spot.

Moussa Narry played full time for Le Mans.

Elsewhere Dijon FCO thrashed Evian Thonon Gaillard 5-1 to book their second win in five games.

Ghana youth midifielder Rabiu Mohammed was conspicuously missing in action for Evian Thonon Gaillard.

In the MLS, former Hearts of Oak combative midfielder Emmanuel Osei was part of the New England Revolution’s side that suffered a 3-0 humiliation at the hands of Colorado Rapids.

Left-back David Addy was red-carded on the 40th when Academica Coimbra escaped with a point at Rio Ave in Portugal.

In the Greek Super League, Bernard Yao Kumordzi was key for Panionios in their 1-0 home win over Aris Salonika.

Haminu Dramani played his first competitive game for Lokomotiv Moscow coming on as a second-half substitute in their one-all draw with FK Tom' Tomsk.

In England:

Chelsea continued their impressive run with a 4-0 hammering of newcomers Blackpool at the Stamford Bridge.

Michael Essien put up a superb showing to aid the Blues cruise to victory.

In Spain:

Quincy Owusu-Abeyie’s breath-taking touches and dazzling skills were not enough to secure a point for Malaga as they lost at 1-2 at home to Sevilla.

Ghana duo Jonathan Mensah and Ransford Osei were key for Granada FC who recorded their first Segunda Division win in four games beating Ponferradina 2-0.

In Italy:

Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah was inspirational for newly-promoted Cesena as they moved to the summit of the Serie A log.

Appiah was in full time action as they piped visitors Lecce 1-0 at the Dino Manuzzi.

Inter Milan fought from a goal down to beat Palermo 1-2 in a keenly contested battle at the Renzo Barbera.

Sulley Muntari was a second-half sub for Inter Milan. Teenage sensation Afriyie Acquah was out of the Palermo first team squad.

Udinese dropped to the bottom of the table after suffering a 4-0 humiliation at the hands the old ladies of the Serie A.

Playermaker Kwadwo Asamoah played full throttle for Les Zebrettes but Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu watched the game from the stands.

Ghana Under-20 striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom did not make the trip to Parma as his Genoa stole a point from the game.

In Germany:

Schalke 04’s miserable form continued in the Bundesliga as they slummed to a 3-1 home defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

Left-back Hans Adu-Sarpei was subbed on the 66th minute for Schalke.

Charles Takyi was an unused substitute for St. Pauli who shared the spoils with Hamburg SV in a 1-1 draw.

Striker Isaac Boakye was not picked for first team action when Nurnburg frustrated Bayer Leverkusen in a goalless draw away.

In Holland:

Nana Kwasi Asare settled the match in favour of FC Utrecht after coming twice from behind.

Asare scored the all important goal on the 84th minute to make it 3-2 against relegation trapped VVV Venlo.

PSV Eindhoven slipped two points behind title rivals Ajax after failing to break down a resolute Roda JC side.

Eric Addo watched from the bench as his colleagues battled his former club.

Champions Twente Enschede were locked down to a 0-0 scoreline at Heracles Almelo.

Kwame Quansah played in midfield for Heracles.
