Lucas Digne and Antonio Rudiger were targeted by missiles thrown by fans in Aston Villa's game away at Everton and Chelsea's derby against Tottenham Hotspur at the Stamford Bridge, respectively.

After the Blues' 2-0 victory over Spurs on Sunday, coach Thomas Tuchel warned of a potential trend and urged authorities to take action immediately to protect the Premier League product.

"I love to have [fans] close to the pitch," Tuchel said in a press conference after the game.

"Not behind fences and not behind nets. It's a brilliant atmosphere. In general, I'm not concerned. I enjoy this atmosphere, also in away stadiums, it's brilliant.

"If it's a new trend we should act together to stop it as soon as possible to protect the environment of this game and the atmosphere that's absolutely unique in England."

While Digne and Matty Cash were hit by a bottle after Aston Villa opened the scoring away at Everton, police have arrested two Spurs fans suspected of throwing a lighter and a bottle opener at Rudiger.
