Turkish coach Vanli axed from Ghana shortlist

Turkish coach Can Vanli has been axed from the five-man shortlist for the vacant Ghana coaching post after his experience and qualifications failed to meet the criteria set by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The GFA will now send out invitation letters for Herbert Addo, Humberto Coelho, Marcel Desailly and Goran Stevanovic for interviews in two weeks’ time.

This comes after Thursday night’s search committee meeting to further investigate the background of the shortlisted coaches.

The meeting ruled that Vanli, who was among the five coaches initially selected from the 106 trainers who applied, did not meet the criteria.

The criteria include achievements in the coaching field, experience, personality, and qualifications.

Vanli has only coached in Turkish lower divisions and is an expert in using computer software for match analysis.

Even though he was part of Turkey technical team at the 2002 World Cup he was only in charge of using computer for analysis.
