Brazil top candidate to retain their title
The Selecao opened their Copa America campaign with a commanding 3-0 win against a weakened Venezuela team. It was expected for Brazil to win by a bigger margin but they missed many chances, 18 to be exact. The defending Copa America champions are the favorites to retain their title as they have won their last eight matches.
Coach Tite has many rotation options in his squad who have mainly played in leading European clubs this season. After an arduous season in Europe, we expect Tite to rest some of his key players taking into consideration as well that they have to play seven matches to reach the final of the competition.
Brazil Key Points
- Brazil have won their last eight matches
- Five of the last six H2H matches were won by Brazil
- 2.3 goals on average were scored by Brazil in their last ten matches
- Brazil had clean sheets in seven of their last ten games
Peru hoping for a flawless defensive performance
Peru are one of the most improved teams in South America. The five-time World Cup participants finished runners-up in the 2019 edition of the Copa America losing to their opponents Brazil in the final. They have met twice since then and both teams have won once each.
It will be a tough night for coach Gareca’s team as they face a star-studded Brazilian lineup led by PSG star Neymar. The Peruvian defense have to be at their best. La Blanquiroja’s backline have conceded 12 goals in their last five matches, four of them from Brazil in their last meeting in November 2020.
Peru Key Points
- Peru have just one clean sheet in their last ten matches
- 1.7 goals is the average conceded goals by Peru in their last ten matches
- Peru have failed to score in five of their last ten matches
Brazil vs Peru Prediction
As we covered before, coach Tite may rest some players but that won’t affect Brazil’s offensive power. We believe the Selecao have the ability to score and win especially with the presence of the likes of Neymar and Gabriel Jesus.
Peru will do their best to neutralize the Brazil attack, something they had trouble with in their last match when they conceded four. Their defense has big problems as we covered in our preview and we don’t think they can sustain the Brazilian pressure.
We will back goals to be scored in both halves for this match.
