These two sides are faltering somewhat in the Scottish Premiership and are in danger of flickering out well before the season ends.

Dundee have not won in any of their last four matches in all competitions but have at least recovered from two defeats on the bounce to record consecutive draws, putting them 7th in the division. They are only one point off the top six where the table splits towards the end of the season but at the same time they are only three points above the relegation play-off places.

The Dark Blues have been pretty poor in the final third and have averaged just one goal per match so far this campaign. Defensively they have been okay but nothing special with 34 goals conceded in 24 matches.

Paul Hartley has got his side doing very well at home and they have not lost a Premiership game at Dens Park since 5th November.

There have been problems at Rangers since the start of the season with realistic expectations placed on the team by the board which has now finally culminated in a mix up surrounding manager Mark Warburton’s recent resignation. The club need this season to be over as quickly as possible in order to have a rethink over the summer. However, they still have European places to fight for and are currently 3rd in the table.

Defence has been Rangers’ strongest suit this season with just 26 goals conceded in 24 matches. Offensively, they are not that fantastic having found the back of the net just 32 times in the league but even this record is still the fourth-best goal-scoring record in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers have been inconsistent on the road and they have not recorded back-to-back wins away from Ibrox in all competitions since 13th August.

I think the chaos surrounding the Glasgow club is so much that it is clearly distracting the players and I am not sure they will take maximum points from Dundee despite their favourites tag. However, the better bet here is ‘Half Time Draw’ at a surprisingly profitable 13/10. 50% of Dundee’s home matches and 50% of Rangers’ away matches (both league) have been level at half time this season.
