Germany v Slovakia: Tancredi Palmeri’s betting tip
Germany have produced far more chances than goals at this tournament so far, and their meager total of 3 doesn’t really do them full justice. Under slightly different circumstances this number could easily read five or six. Furthermore, it is no coincidence that the opposing goalkeeper was man of the match in each of the three games that they’ve played so far.
Slovakia are very solid: they drew with England which was exactly what they wanted and they won with a good amount of style against Russia. They did lose the opener to Wales but this was a relatively close game and the goals they conceded were a tad unlucky. Once again it might be difficult for Germany to score, or at least score freely. It is incredible to think that Thomas Mueller has no goals at this tournament yet and if Slovakia get it right defensively it could be another frustrating night for the Bayern Munich man.
Overall though Germany have the quality and this should be enough to see them edge through in what is likely to be another tight Round of 16 game. This one can finish with only 1 goal difference, so take Draw (-1 Germany) on the handicap at 11/5.
