Although this Hungarian side are nothing on their 1950s counterparts, they are certainly impressing and surprising at this tournament – just like the Mighty Magyars did with the likes of Ferenc Puskas and Nandor Hidegkuti over 60 years ago.

I predicted they would not qualify from Group F which had Austria and Portugal as the favourites but they managed to get through to the knockout rounds undefeated and perhaps should have come through even more convincingly with a win over the Portuguese rather than that dramatic 3-3 draw.

Belgium are supposedly the second best team in the world and the best team in Europe but it seems to depend on which Belgian side turns up. They looked poor in their tournament opener against Italy but then demolished the Republic of Ireland 3-0. The Red Devils are many people’s favourite dark horse for the tournament and, as they find themselves on the ‘easier’ side of the draw, this expectation could turn into reality.

However, could the pressure get to Belgium? I like the look of Hungary and they have already shown themselves to be good competitors at this level. As expected, Belgium are the overwhelming favourites so there is no value in backing them. The Hungarians have a good chance of pulling off a shock if the Belgians get complacent and fail to turn up so I have backed them at 11/2.
