Prediction on Nigeria vs Angola
Nigeria and Angola have both recorded the same number of wins (3) and draws (1) in their opening four AFCON 2023 matches, but defensively, Nigeria is clear, and offensively, Angola is better. Because both teams lack in some areas and are relatively in the same form, we predict the Nigeria vs Angola match to end in a draw, but Nigeria wins in extra time.
We predict under 2.5 goals for the Nigeria vs Angola match, and this is why. 50% of Angola’s last four AFCON 2023 matches ended with under 2.5 goals, while 100% of Nigeria’s last four matches ended with under 2.5 goals.
Match Preview: Nigeria vs Angola
Nigeria started their AFCON 2023 campaign with a frustrating 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea, but they would go on to win their next two matches against Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau to qualify for the knockout stages. They were drawn against Cameroon, but the Super Eagles cleared Vincent Aboubakar’s side with a comfortable 2-0 win. Nigeria face Angola in the quarter-final without their first-choice goalkeeper, Nwabili, due to an injury he sustained last time out.
Angola have done pretty much the same as Nigeria in terms of the number of matches won and how they began their AFCON 2023 campaign. They drew 1-1 against Algeria in their AFCON opener but went on to win their next two group stage games against Mauritania and Burkina Faso. The Sable Antelopes were drawn against Namibia in the round of 16, but despite going a man down inside 17 minutes of action, they would go on to score a goal halfway through the first half, and in the 40th minute, Namibia were reduced to ten men, making the numbers even, and Angola would go on to score two more goals to win the tie 3-0. Now, they host Nigeria, who have the best defence in the competition, without their first-choice goalkeeper as well after he received a straight red card last time out.
