U-23 AFCON: Black Meteors striker Emmanuel Yeboah reacts after humiliating defeat to Morocco

Published on: 28 June 2023

Black Meteors forward Emmanuel Yeboah has reacted to Ghana's heavy defeat to Morocco on Tuesday night against Morocco in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ghana suffered a shocking 5-1 defeat to the hosts at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in their second group game minimising their chances of advancing to the next stage of the competition.

Yeboah who earned a starting berth following his impressive showing in Ghana's opening game failed to replicate his initial performance where he scored a brace and set up another in Ghana's 3-2 victory over Congo.

On Wednesday afternoon, he took to his Twitter handle to write, "In all things, we give thanks to the Lord. Not the result we wanted, very disappointing but God knows the best. We live to fight another day for God & Country."

Ghana will now have to beat Guinea at all costs to advance to the semifinals of the competition which serves as a qualification ground for the prestigious Olympic Games.

Ghana last appeared in the Olympic Games in 2004 and have targeted 2024 as a year of return. They would however need to play above themselves to end in the top three by the end of the season.
