Udinese coach Luigi De Canio believes fear crippled his side in their 1-1 draw with Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The 58-year-old succeeded Stefano Colantuono earlier in the week and his impact was immediate in the dugout.
“I’m happy because I know not many teams come to Sassuolo and go away with a point,” De Canio told Udinese TV. “It is a pity though because we had a chance to go 2-0 up.
“Then it is clear that, given the trend of the season, fear starts gripping the legs of our players and they are likely to make some mistakes.
“After a performance like that, although I’m disappointed not to have won, I am satisfied with my players.”
The Zebrette remain only five points clear of the relegation zone and face Napoli at home after the international break.
