Wakaso's Spanish club cast doubt over Ghana midifleder's fitness for Mozambique AFCON qualifiers

Spanish side Las Palmas say their Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso is only in the final phase of his injury recovery even though he has been called by Ghana to play in two 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this month.

This means Las Palmas believe the player is not fully fit for the two matches to be played against Mozambique in Accra and Maputo.

Despite raising their complaint over the fitness level of the player the La Liga side say they will not hesitate in releasing the player for Ghana's medical team to examine him.

The influential enforcer was a shock inclusion in coach Avram Grant's 23-man squad for this month's back-to-back matches against Mozambique.

That is because he suffered an injury while playing for Las Palmas in their La Liga match two weeks ago and was ruled out of action for four weeks.

With the match against scheduled for next week, the apprehensive Las Palmas say the GFA medical team must look at his medical report before they take a decision to play him.

“UD Las Palmas player Mubarak Wakaso has been called up to the Ghana team that play two official matches against Mozambique on March 24 and 27 in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers,” the club announced on their official website on Thursday.

“Wakaso will travel to his country on Saturday after the release of UD Las Palmas players as well-stipulated in the regulations of Fifa for international matches.
