Watford intend to register Pape Gueye as their player on July 1

Watford intend to register Pape Gueye as their player on July 1 despite the Le Havre midfielder insisting he no longer wishes to join.

Gueye agreed a pre-contract with Watford but says he has been 'advised badly' and will be ending 'all contractual links' while his new representatives say his medical demands scrutiny.

The 21-year-old is wanted by Angers but faces a legal battle unless Watford are compensated.

His pre-contract agreement with Watford was spectacularly shot down by his agent Pierre-Henri Bovis at the end of April.

'Nothing is fixed. We have a ‘so-called’ contract from January,' he previously told the Athletic.

'Now we are trying to resolve possible issues. The circumstances are very strange.

'The communication of Watford doesn’t change anything for us.

'In the UK, in France, Germany and Italy, we really don’t know about the solution or the club where Pape Gueye could go.'

Bovis became Gueye's agent after the player cut ties with the representative who presided over the pre-contract signing with Watford.

The defensive midfielder is one of a number of promising talents to come through the Le Havre academy such as Paul Pogba, Riyad Mahrez and Benjamin Mendy.
