West Ham predicted lineup vs Man Utd - Premier League

Published on: 17 September 2021

West Ham go into Sunday's clash with Manchester United on a high after beating Dinamo Zagreb in their opening Europa League group game.

Goals from Michail Antonio and Declan Rice gave the Hammers a deserved 2-0 win in Croatia, with the overall performance of the players extremely impressive.

David Moyes made a few changes for that game and will likely change his lineup around again, with fresh legs of paramount importance ahead of a run of seven games in 23 days.

Here's how the Scot could set his side up come kick off, against a side who have taken 10 points from a possible 12 - two more than West Ham.

West Ham predicted lineup vs Man Utd - Premier League

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Lukasz Fabianski

Lukasz Fabianski (GK) - Many expected Alphonse Areola, this writer included, to debut against Dinamo Zagreb, yet Fabianski held on to his place in goal. Would now be surprising to see a change for such a big game.

Vladimir Coufal (RB) - Ryan Fredericks was exceptional on Thursday night, posing a significant threat going forward. But Coufal's qualities - both in defence and attack - should see him immediately restored.

Kurt Zouma (CB) - The age of Zouma is upon us. Kicked off in style against Dinamo and surely will retain his place ahead of Craig Dawson.

Angelo Ogbonna (CB) - Issa Diop was solid as a rock against Dinamo but Ogbonna doesn't deserve to lose his regular gig in the Premier League.

Aaron Cresswell (LB) - The games come thick and fast for Cresswell but there's no way he'll be replaced at left-back. Arthur Masuaku must wait in the wings.

2. Midfielders

Declan Rice (CM) - One of the form players around the continent, let alone in the Premier League. Scored against Dinamo on Thursday and shows no sign of letting tiredness affect him.

Tomas Soucek (CM) - Will pose a significant aerial threat to United. Assured on the ball too, Soucek has formed a terrific partnership with Rice.

Pablo Fornals (AM) - The Spaniard has plenty of miles in his legs but is one of the most crucial cogs in West Ham's midfield machine.

3. Forwards

Nikola Vlasic (RW) - A cameo against Southampton last Saturday was followed up by a decent showing in Zagreb. Another start beckons.

Jarrod Bowen (CF) - In the absence of Michail Antonio through suspension, Bowen should be deployed through the middle - but don't be surprised if he still tries to work the channels.

Said Benrahma (LW) - Dropped on Thursday with this fixture in mind, Benrahma should immediately come back into the side. Expect plenty of positional rotation between the front three and Fornals.
