Wilder enjoys deserved point

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder felt his team had deserved a share of the spoils, as they began life back in the Premier League with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

Blades legend Billy Sharp pounced with two minutes left to play Dean Court to secure the draw, with Wilder feeling that his players had shown the effort and approach which merited getting something out of the game.

We have to have confidence in our ability. It will be a tough season for us.

He told BBC Sport: "It was the right result, I think we deserved something from the game.

"We came here to get a result and that was the biggest thing. It is a very good Bournemouth side who have done very well in the last few seasons, so we knew it would be tough.

"We have to have confidence in our ability. It will be a tough season for us.

"There was always going to be apprehension in our play, none of these boys have played at this level. When the bullets start flying on the first day, we had to get on with it and learn and quickly grow - I thought we did.

"It was important it wasn't a sightseeing trip for us, it wasn't a day out, it wasn't 'we've got to the Premier League so let's just enjoy it'."

The Blades welcome Crystal Palace to Bramall Lane next weekend, with the two sides having last met in the Championship during the 2010/11 season.

United are 7/4 to defeat the Eagles and 13/2 to win by a 1-0 scoreline, with the Blades 6/5 not to be relegated come the end of the season.
