Striker Asamoah Gyan has joined the list of top scorers at the World Cup after his extra-time goal sent Ghana through to the quarter-final stage on Saturday.

The Rennes forward has joined the five others who have raked in three goals at the finals- David Villa (Spain), Luis Suarez (Uruguay), Gonzalo Higuain(Argentina), Robert Vittek (Slovakia), Landon Donovan (USA).

Gyan proved his critics wrong once again who slammed him after scoring his two ther goals from the spot and doubted if the 24-year-old could score from open play.

He said: "I am the happiest man in the world."

"In 2006 we made the second round, now we have gone a step further. We've made Ghana and the whole of Africa proud."
