Ghana players have shown massive team spirit and unity in camp and in their dressing room ahead of Monday's opening World Cup clash against the United States.

A picture tweeted by the players shows them in ecstatic mood in their dressing room after a well-attended and exciting training session in their third day of training in their team base camp of Maceio in Brazil in Friday night.

The Ghana players have been supporting each other under the leadership of captain Asamoah Gyan but this is the first time such extra ordinary unity has been seen in the dressing room.

This is a key ingredient for success for the Black Stars in the World Cup as they seek to become Africa's first side to reach at least the semi-final of the tournament being held in Brazil.

Thousands turned up to watch the Black Stars in their open training session on Friday and excited by the fans they saw the players showed details of their dressing room unity ahead of the match against the USA.

The Black Stars defeated the United States in group play in 2006, and in the round of 16 in 2010.

A 4-0 victory against South Korea in Miami on Monday suggested Ghana will again be a handful.

The victory over the U.S. team four years ago sent Ghana into the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time.

Ghana was embraced as “Africa's Team” in the first World Cup on the continent and came within inches of becoming the first African squad to reach the semifinals, but lost to Uruguay in a shoot-out after Gyan hit the crossbar on a late penalty kick that would have won the game.

FIFA rankings suggest Ghana is the underdog in talent-laden Group G, which also includes the No. 13-ranked United States, No. 2 Germany and No. 4 Portugal. But no one is likely to take the Black Stars lightly.
