Ghana FA Executive Committee member Moses Armah admits he needed some convincing after being stunned by the inclusion of Jeffry Schlupp in the provisional Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The Leicester City star was one of the surprise inclusions in the provisional 26-man squad named by coach Kwesi Appiah on Monday.

Sclupp alongside David Accam and Afriyie Acquah were big beneficiaries as a reward for their impressive form for their respective clubs.

Moses Armah who also doubles as a member of the Black Stars management committee however reveals he had to be won over by the coach over the selection of Schlupp who had played just once for the Black Stars.

“I think these are the best players we have for now,” Armah told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I was surprised about Jeffry [Schlupp], I have never seen him before but when he [the coach] showed me the clip of him, he is fantastic.

“And I think he is one of the best players for our No.3 position.”

Kwesi Appiah will prune his team to the required 23 for the World Cup after the international friendly against the Netherlands on May 31 in Rotterdam.

i wonder whether the coach showed him the clip of schlup before or after the release of the list. clearly shlup has earned his place. as for the other three players to be dropped, i feel so sorry for the coach. they are all so deserving. possible candidates like adomah, accam, jordan, rabiu, essien and sumaila are all good players. hmmm...

It's best you shut up because this indicates how closely you follow world soccer. Fortunately you are no longer in an administrative position with regard to Ghana soccer.

I wouldn't drop Accam for anything...thee mantle is certainly on the players now,you have to pull your weight in camp or will be dropped,I like the fact the coach picked 26 players instead of either 30 or 23,this keeps everyone on their toes, increasing the competitive nature of the players, every selected player will then feel justified... I must say,I would be the first to advocate for Essien's inclusion but with the energy of Afriyie Acquah and Accam,I wouldn't be surprise to see Essien dropped.

Jeffrey Schlupp will help secure the left back position with his strength and size he will be able to replace Harrison Afful when Ghana plays big teams like Germany. He is also excellent scoring from set pieces, especially corner kicks. Liverpool, and other Premier league clubs are seeking his services. He has the speed and confidence to shut down or at least slow down Ronaldo. Sir Alex Ferguson liked him. Coach Appiah means to make history and his team selection and back room staff says it all.

Now let see which players akwasi appiah will drop. I don't think akwasi will drop adomah , because of how closed they are as family.

Saha I share the same view but I don't think it's advisable to drop a goalkeeper.this a good problem for the coaches,if any is not serious with camp rules and training the the axe can fall on him ,I don't give a shit who he is...our eyes and we mean business.

@ Saha, how can you expect a keeper to be dropped. The three players to be dropped are 1. Albert Adomah 2. Albert Adomah 3. Albert Adomah. He is just not a Black Star material period. Guys whatsapp me and let make some really good money. Only serious brothers should contact me, not guys who act like ladies.

Good work by Dr. A. A Sumaila is good but raw Accam is great but inexperienced Adomah is good on the flanks but soft. That's my view

Ghanaians like complaining too much, allow the coach to do his work, when he fails then we have every right to nail the nail on his head. Now all Kwasi need is our prayers. From Monrovia
