2014 World Cup: Top Ghanaian journalist Kwaku Baako Jnr wants 'criminally inept' deputy sports minister Yammin sacked

Joseph Yammin is under fire for his latest comment

By Patrick Akoto

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jr, is calling for the immediate dismissal of  Ghana’s deputy sports minister Joseph Yammin,  for declaring ONLY supporters and sympathizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be flown to Brazil to support the Black Stars at the World Cup, claiming the comment has ‘killed the spirit’ of the nation.

The controversial former Ashanti Regional secretary of the ruling party has come under intense fire after his latest comment went viral in the West Africa country.

Minister of sports Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has confirmed 500 Ghanaian fans will fly out to the South American country to cheer on the national team.

But Yammin’s suggestions that majority will of such fans will be members of the ruling party has sparked widespread criticism as it has the propensity to worsen the already polarized political situation that exists in Ghana.

Seasoned and highly-respected journalist Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako wants the minister sacked for ‘killing’ the spirit of the nation, just days before the Black Stars take on USA in their group G opener.

“I can’t believe it. He (Yammin) should be removed from office. I am extremely shocked to hear this,” he said on Peace FM’ morning show on Wednesday.

“If the president doesn’t sack him, I will be very surprised. We rebuked him for earlier mistakes but this one he must be sacked.

“He doesn’t deserve to be minister of state being paid by the taxpayer. I am telling you,  he has killed the spirit of the nation towards the World Cup.

“Nobody should rationalize what he said. This is criminally inept. It is very pathetic and I’m shocked.” he fumed.

Yammin is not new in courting controversy after he ‘read’ politics in Ghana’s World Cup group decider against Zambia in September last year.

He urged the team to beat the Chipolopolo to further the cap of his government – a comment which drew wild criticism from many Ghanaian fans.

Yammin latest comment could worsen the already polarized political temperature in the country which has been divided sharply between the ruling government and opposition New Patriotic Party.

Koo Tee, i live in south Africa and honestly Malema does not speak for himself and his party but the masses, the poor, yes he is a nut case but at least He does not advocate support only for those who vote for him....Yammin is a XXX nutcase...seriously , i mean to say tax payers moneis will be used for only NDC voters is idiotic at least. I am ashamed...He makes Malema sound like a wise man...this is 3rd Degree foolishness for a minister.

Some positions are mined by intelligent people in society but not any folly. BS was there before NDC. This is what the stupid minister should know. He should grow up. Does he think all the players voted for one party. He should be blamed if the team fails. As a matter of fact he should even be sacked right now before the first match for Ghanaians to appreciate that the Government is not in support of his lose talk, otherwise the players who belongs to the other parties will make sure we lose all our group matches and come home. Then we will see how he and his ndc supporters can enjoy their stay in Brazil. Kkkkkwasssssiiiiiaaabato!

This Yammin ''bongo'' face ''double chin'' creature is half Indian, Bangladeshi or Pakistani. He does not know what football is. All he knows about is cricket and he has not kicked a soccer ball in his entire life! I wonder who gave him power to spew garbage in Ghana. And by the way why do we have so many Indian halfies in NDC government and they are all the same. Victoria Hammah, another half indian is a recent example who confidently spewed that she will ride on he back of Ghana politics to become a millonaire. People should Go to india and see how some of their ministers openly encourage rape of women. Yammin is no different, he has more indian than Ghanaian blood in him.

Sad that such an idiot is in charge of such an important position. why don't the NDC send only NDC players to the world cup??? foolish fool, this blackstars team is the only good thing coming out from Ghana, the only thing that gives us some dignity and helps us forget the harsh conditions fools like you have created in the country. Mess with it and you will live to regret you stupid mutherfucker. The blackstars is for Ghana and not a product of any political party. That is the reason they are successful.

What a heck, this guy is in the NDC Government, then he does not qualify to be there..Why, because common sense should tell you.."soccer is a unifying force" so for a minister to make this pronouncement to bring division is weird. This also makes me believe what people are saying that he is not a full blooded Ghanaian because this not our culture. His picture above tells it all [I heard his comments on peace FM news]
