2019/20 Ghana Premier League: Week 4 Match Report - Legon Cities FC 0-0 AshantiGold SC

Published on: 15 January 2020

AshantiGold SC saw their 100% record come to a halt as they were held by Legon Cities FC to a 0-0 draw at the Accra sports stadium on Wednesday night.

The Royals remain winless in the season as they failed to clinch their first win this campaign.

The Gold and Black outfit move to second on the league log on same points with leaders Medeama SC.

Nicholas Mensah made his maiden appearance in starting lineup for Cities alongside Abdul Wahab Hanan who was marking a home debut.

Prosper Gbeku replaced Fatau Dauda in posts.

Yakubu Sheriff Mambo made no alterations to his squad for this game. Newly signed Frank Akoto was at the bench for the first time.

The first scoring opportunity fell the away of the Miners following a big blunder by defender Mensah but Shafiu Mumuni's effort went wide.

In the 40th minute, central defender Mensah made a timely clearance on the goal line to prevent the visitors from getting the opener after Mark Agyekum had gone past two defenders and goalkeeper Gbeku.

The second half was virtually a balanced game with both sides failing to create any scoring opportunities.

Legon Cities travel to Dormaa Ahenkro to face Aduana Stars in tricky fixture on Sunday whereas AshantiGold SC will host Berekum Chelsea at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi.
