Newly-appointed Youth and Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye believes the big-name players can exponentially boost interest in the Ghana Premier League.

The former football commentator is ready to tackle the problem of dwindling crowds at league venues.

“Big players attract fans to the Stadium, I remember when supporters will go and even sleep at the stadium gate just because of tickets to watch Shamo Quaye and others in Hearts-Kotoko clash,” Vanderpuye said.

“Hears of Oak got their biggest ever gates proceeds in a game with Kotoko after they signed Opoku Nti.”

Vanderpuye was a director at Premier League side Liberty Professionals.
