AFC sends condolences at the passing of India's Shibaji Banerjee

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) extends its deepest sympathies at the passing of former India national team goalkeeper Shibaji Banerjee who died on Sunday.

The AFC also extends its condolences as the Asian football family shares the grief and loss felt by the family and friends of Banerjee, as well as the Indian football community.

Having served on Indian club Mohun Bagan Technical Committee, Banerjee will be remembered for his passion, commitment and immense contribution to the game. 

One of the highlights of the former Mohun Bagan goalkeeper's career was his incredible dive to stop a free-kick taken by Brazilian legend Pele in a 1977 exhibition match against New York Cosmos.
