AFC U-16 Championship 2018 Qualifiers Group C: Kyrgyz Republic 1-0 Lebanon

Karaj: Kyrgyz Republic secured their first three points of the AFC U-16 Championship Malaysia 2018 Qualifiers after a 1-0 win over Lebanon on Wednesday.

Kyrgyz Republic lost 3-1 to Afghanistan in their opener, while Lebanon claimed their first win over Bhutan but fell short against Islamic Republic of Iran on Matchday Two. 

With the top spot guranteed an automatic qualification into the final stage, both teams began tenaciously. 

After a back-and-forth confrontation, Kyrgyz defender Sergeii Shipovskii broke the deadlock in the 16th minute. 

After the break, Abdullah Almutairi's side looked to further their lead but the Lebanese defence proved to be a tough challenge. 

Towards the final minutes, Saad Eddine Bahlawan's side were more desperate to level the score, but were left to rue their missed chances as they sufferrf their second consecutive defeat. 

Iran will play Bhutan later on Wednesday.
