Singapore: Albirex Niigata (S) won the Singapore League Cup on Saturday after beating Brunei DPMM FC 2-0 in the final at Jalan Besar Stadium.

A goal in either half sealed the title for the Japanese side, with defender Rui Kumada putting Albirex in front on 42 minutes by sending a sumptuous effort into the top corner after fending off Abdul Aziz Tamit's challenge.

Striker Atsushi Kawata, who had already scored three goals in the competition before the final, then ghosted in at the back post to meet Kento Nagasaki’s 79th minute corner and head the ball home to secure the win.

Albirex, who claimed their third Singapore League Cup crown with this latest success, remain on course to claim the treble in 2016 as they are currently on top of the S.League and are through to the semi-finals of the Singapore Cup.
