The Black Queens arrived safely at the Kotoka International Airport at exactly 11:00am on Sunday after winning Gold at the just ended 2015 All Africa Games  in Brazzaville, Congo.

The contingent made up of the players and officials touched down at the airport amidst cheers and commendations from the media and supporters groups at the airport.

Ghana had a shambolic preparation towards the games as the Ministry of Youth and Sports revealed that there were challenges with funding but the Queens were one of only two teams that won Gold for the country out of nineteen medals.

The Queens scooped the Gold medal from the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon after Portia Boakye's goal in the 86th minute separated the sides

The national female football team, the Black Queens were the last team to win gold at the event after George Darko and Wisdom Adjrago had won the first in the tennis doubles.

The contingent were welcomed by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, the Director of the National Sports Authority and other officials from the ministry.

On their arrival, the leader of delegation, Mr. Saka Aquaye informed the Minister and the other officials of the National Sports Authority about the team’s performance at the event and the medals they won as a result.

Speaking at the event, the sector minister congratulated the contingent for making Ghana proud admitting that even though preparations were not the best, the team did their best to make the nation proud.

Ghana won nineteen medals in all at the competition.
