Allegri: Juventus’ meeting with Napoli will not decide the Scudetto

Published on: 12 February 2016

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri looked to take the pressure off his side as they prepare to host Napoli on Saturday, with the chance to become Serie A leaders for the first time this season.

The 48-year-old hopes the Bianconeri’s 14-game winning run can continue against the Azzurri, giving him chances to steer the Turin side to their second Scudetto during his spell in charge.

“Napoli are enjoying a great season and proving their worth,” Allegri told the press during his pre-match conference. “They are in good form now, I expect a great game both tactically and technically speaking.

“Anyway, this match won’t be decisive for the Scudetto as there will still be 13 games left.”

Allegri also commented on the speculation about his future, after rumours linked him to Premier League champions Chelsea as a possible successor to interim manager, Guus Hiddink.

“I’m happy at Juventus,” he said.

“There is nothing true about what has been written and said, I can’t dismiss something untrue.

“We won’t be influenced by these rumours, we’re professionals.

“Pressure is mounting as the season progresses; what really counts is being top on May 16th.

“Maybe Juventus are more used to this kind of games, but Napoli can count on the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Jose Callejon and other experienced players.”

The reigning Scudetto holders will seek revenge for the 2-1 loss at Stadio San Paolo in September, as well as trying to keep up the positive tradition which never saw Napoli winning at Juventus Stadium.
