Anderlecht refuse to release Frank Acheampong for CAF U20 tourney

Ghana's 2013 African Youth Championship campaign has been dealt a massive after Anderlecht refused to release playmaker Frank Acheampong, MTNFootball.com can exclusively reveal. 

MTNFootball.com sources at the Belgian club claim the promising prospect will not be allowed to join the Black Satellites for the tournament which is not sanctioned by FIFA .

Anderlecht had earlier confirmed the skilful midfielder will be release but his outstanding display for the youth team in the Viareggio Cup has forced to club to rescind their decision.

Acheampong-who joined the club last month on loan from Thai Premier League side Buriram United- is highly regarded by the Jupiler League side.

He scored two goals to help Anderlecht win the 2013 Viareggio Cup and was on target in the 2-1 defeat to Olympiacos on Sunday as they exited the NextGen Series.

The Black Satellites have been preparing in Europe and will leave to Algeria for their opening match against Egypt on March 16.

Ghana will also play Benin and Egypt in Ain Temouchent.
