AS ROMA, Gonalons: \"I moved from Lyon in order to improve myself\"

Published on: 21 November 2017

Interviewed by L'Equipe, French 28-year old midfielder Maxime Gonalons talked mostly about his decision to move from Olympique Lyon to AS Roma, and the impact Italian football and Giallorossi environment had on him: "I think Lyon it's a great club, but AS Roma are an institution in football. I knew I'd have had to put myself out there, and have a fresh start here. The club and the facilities are excellent, my family and I fit immediately. Of course back in Lyon I was a stable regular, which I'm not here, but I had to look onwards, and move in order to improve myself. Aulas' last statements on me? No hard feelings, we even had a verbal contact after I left. Getting back to the national team? I'm aware I need to bridge a big gap: there's a hard core of players who' have been playing together for a few months, besides some very good youngsters...but you never know what could happen. I want to give a lot to this club, since I'm getting a lot from them".
