Asante Kotoko fans call for referee Samuel Sukah ban

Aggrieved Asante Kotoko fans are calling on the Premier League Board and the Referees Appointment Committee to ban referee Samuel Sukah from the game following a dubious penalty he awarded Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash in Accra.

Referee Sukah became the talking point in what appeared a highly competitive game after awarding the Phobians a dubious penalty with less than ten minutes to end the game.

His disappointing decision has left many Kotoko supporters peeved calling on the authgorities to hand the center man a life ban.

“These are some of the reasons why our game will never go anywhere. Cheating must be out of the game. He must be banned to serve as a lesson to others,“ an aggrieved fan who spoke to GHANAsoccernet noted.

“It is very disappointing to lose this way. If you put in all your effort and the referee decides who wins the game, it is very painful. He must face a life-long ban to serve as a deterrent to others,” another said.

One fans who trekked all the way from Kumasi had this to say: “We were a better side until that penalty. How can the referee do that? I am now going all the way to Kumasi hugely disappointed. The only thing that can ease my pain is to see the referee banned.”

The solitary win over Kotoko on Sunday means the Phobians have ended the eight-year jinx of failing to beat their rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium.

It is however unclear whether Asante Kotoko will officially protest the yellow card handed to Ahmed Adams following his reaction the penalty.
